veil of light is the synth/postpunk solo project of a mystery man from zurich known to the wider world only as m. the project was born in 2012 when all the tracks for the veil of light eponymous 2013 ep released on belaten were recorded by m in a bunker near zurich. that last fact incidentally is a good way to describe the music released under this project’s name much like the mental image of a bunker it is cold dark and forces one into a contemplative resigned state. the influences that immediately come to mind listening to veil of light are 1980’s wave music post punk industrial and dark ambient all weaved together by an overarching depressive yet dreamy atmosphere. it has been called gothgaze and the description seems apt. the followup to the opener the 7” cold skin single released on edition gris and the debut lp simply titled as well as this years head/blood/chest ep continue in the same vein.

dieser sound erinnert an klassische handgemachte, elektronische house und disco musik, ist jedoch nicht auf diesen einfachen tanzansatz beschränkt ist, sondern spiegelt eine große sammlung von einflüssen aus der vergangenheit sowie vorhersagen aus der zukunft wieder. vibin places ist eine mini lp, die als live-aufnahme mit sechs tracks in einem kontinuierlicher mix fließt und die seele dieses aufregenden musikprojekts einfängt.

niklas wandt und niklas rehme-schlüter (cass.) sind zwei multi-instrumentalisten und echte musikalische köpfe, die an den rändern von ambient, kraut, jazz und experimenteller elektronik arbeiten. beide waren sowohl in zahlreichen projekten als auch als solokünstler aktiv, bevor sie sich für diese besondere aufnahme, die auf candomblé veröffentlicht wird, zusammenschlossen.

das forgemasters-trio: winston hazel, sean maher und rob gordon wurden erstmals mit ihrem mittlerweile legendären track with no name gefeiert und haben als erste veröffentlichung auf warp records (wap1) prestige. skies over sheffield wartet jedoch seit seiner konzeption in den frühen 90er jahren in den startlöchern. fast zwei jahrzehnte lang war die sonne über der strecke untergegangen, die in einer alten aufnahme von winston hazels sheffield community radio aus dem jahr 1992 eingebettet war. daher sind wir sehr stolz darauf, die lang erwartete morgendämmerung von skies over sheffield auf seven hills records anzukündigen.

dies ist die erste vinyl veröffentlichung der inzwischen aufgelösten pariser formation none, die abgesehen von einem verstohlenen bandauftritt nur sehr wenige spuren ihrer aufnahmen hinterlassen hat. sie bleiben ihrem namen treu, indem sie die intensität ihrer live-auftritte konventionellen klangfixierungen vorziehen. obwohl nach der auflösung der band im jahr 2019 nur noch eine einzige aufnahme übrig war, ist der seltsam betitelte khneï khneï thnacapata thnacapata eine überzeugende demonstration der selbstbeherrschung und eines der wenigen relikte, die der kurzlebigen gruppe noch zu schätzen wissen.

der produzent und digger fuzati (klub des loosers) hat zusammen mit dem französischen modulor label das le tres jazz club label ins leben gerufen, das zuvor exklusive reissues an jazz raritäten aus japan veröffentlicht hat. nun wird erstmalig das superrare und vielgesuchte modal jazz album -glass flowers- aus dem jahr 1969 auf vinyl wiederveröffentlicht. the elysian spring sind rainer bertrams (piano, vibes, flute), bruce krasin (saxophone, flute), lenny ezbicky (drums) und jimmy bridges (bass). ein einleger dokumentiert die geschichte von the elysian spring der aufnahme dieses meisterwerks.

am 7. juni 2018 hätte er seinen 60. geburtstag gefeiert: prince. vor zwei jahren musste die musikwelt abschied von dem legendären sänger, komponisten, songwriter und multiinstrumentalisten nehmen. mit »piano & a microphone 1983« gibt es jetzt ein weiteres seltenes zeugnis seines kreativen schaffens, eine homestudio-aufnahme mit vielen spannenden frühen versionen und nie veröffentlichten tracks.

during the recent years, terence fixmer kept on being prolific by producing and releasing his music output on well esteemed quality labels such as ostgut ton, novamute, jealous god and recently on aufnahme+wiedergabe. following a constant workflow, fixmer decided it is now time to restart his label planete rouge which he launched back in 1998 already but has always been irregular in terms of releases. the label will relaunch after a 4-year hiatus with his new 12-. terence fixmer s oppression ep is a great resume of his unique sound design signature, delivering a collection of four energetic tracks that speaks to the soul. on top of it, as an homage to one of his all time favourite tracks of the normal / warm leatherette from 1978, fixmer decided to rewrite this 40 year old tune from daniel miller as a a personal pleasure and fun. by using as well the mini korg 700 s terence fixmer recreated nearly the original sound, keeping a track that is loyal to his own sound as well as its original spirit.

nostromo is the new collaborative project of berlin-based producers sarin & unhuman, known for some ebm and industrial killer releases under their solo aliases on aufnahme + wiedergabe, instruments of discipline or amok tapes. on that first ep, they cooked some heavy minimal analog basslines fused with intricately woven samples, to create mutating and hypnotic dancefloor killers !

»stella« ist das vierte album der schweizer elektronikband yello aus dem jahr 1985. mit diesem album feierte die band ihren internationalen durchbruch, der zu einem großen teil auf den song »oh yeah« zurückzuführen war, der im jugendfilmklassiker »ferris macht blau« und zwei jahre später in »das geheimnis meines erfolges« zum einsatz kam. während der aufnahme bewegten sich boris blank und dieter meier ein stück von den experimentellen sounds weg in richtung des kommerziellen synth pops und zum cinematischen soundtrack.

mit nomc15 erscheint nun eine art deluxe album des letzten studioalbums music complete von new order als live-version. zum vÖ des albums spielte die band aus manchester zwei shows in der brixton academy london. eine wahrlich großartige live-aufnahme eines der beiden ausverkauften konzerte erscheint nun als doppel-cd und 3fach lp auf mute!

the bug kündigt mit bad feat. flowdan und get out the wa feat. killa p & irah (die erste kollaboration zwischen killa p und the bug seit skeng! vom 2008er album london zoo) seine neue aa-side 12inch an, die anfang dezember 2017 auf 12inch vinyl via ninja tune erscheint. auf bad schauen flowdan und the bug ein wenig über ihren eigenen musikalischen tellerrand: der mc bietet seine poesie in bestem singjay-style (abgeleitet von sing und jay aus deejay: dem eigentlich mc in der reggae-welt) dar und verweist somit offenkundig auf seine jamaikanische herkunft, indem er chams klassiker ghetto story zitiert und mit seiner eigenen geschichte über das aufwachsen in east london vermischt. ebenfalls für ihn eher unüblich, hat the bug den ganzen riddim aus einer durch ihn stark verfremdeten aufnahme eines einzelnen sowjetischen drumcomputers produziert und so lange an den effekten rumgeschraubt, bis der beat ordentlich rumpelte. und das wars dann auch: keine weiteren komponenten wurden hierfür verwendet. ganz ohne basslines kommt dieser track gänzlich mit vocals und beatbox allein aus so simpel und effektiv kann es manchmal gehen. get out the way ist die erste zusammenarbeit zwischen the bug und killa p, seit ihrem furiosen gemeinsamen song skeng! aus dem schon kultverdächtigen album london zoo von 2008. killa p bringt hierfür noch irah aus seiner killaz army crew mit und zusammen fallen sie über den beat her, den the bug in anlehnung an seine heißgeliebte und von junglist oder dillinja inspirierte reese bassline produziert hat. die beiden mcs üben sich im song in sachen dancefloor-zerstörung und klingen erschreckend glaubwürdig in ihren drohungen und einschüchterungsversuchen.

van morrison verliert keine zeit. nicht einmal ein jahr nach seinem 36. album »keep me singing« veröffentlicht der nordirische musiker 2017 bereits einen neuen longplayer: hier ist »roll with the punches«.
insgesamt 15 titel warten auf der platte, darunter fünf neue van-morrison-originale und eine persönliche auswahl an r’n’b- und bluesklassikern, darunter stücke von bo diddley, mose allison, sister rosetta tharpe und lightnin’ hopkins.
einen ersten vorgeschmack auf die platte gab es bereits mit der single »bring it on home to me«, die im original von sam cooke stammt.
für die aufnahme und produktion des neuen albums arbeitete van morrison mit einigen hochkarätigen kollegen zusammen, darunter paul jones, jeff beck, jason rebello und chris farlowe.

infinite density – the new album by the berlin based, cuban-american artist blush response – is a fantastical exploration into the depths of industrial and ebm techno in collaboration with techno frontman adam x’s infamous imprint, sonic groove. influenced by the progressive noise of autechre, front line assembly and skinny puppy the producer has previously released with aufnahme +wiedergabe and ant-zen, as well as getting his hands dirty with programming work for the industrial pioneers fear factory, rhys fulber as well as latin pop singer cristian castro. infinite destiny takes a firm grip on situationally influenced content, pulling every corner of berlin into its belly for a challenging and unique sound – a sound that’s able to maintain functionality whilst simultaneously exposing loose wires of wild flangers and disturbed sampling. these erratic waves are expressed through the productions infinite density, aum shinrikyo, survivor guilt and dead still air, showcasing the most alien meta-bodies of blush’s sound. as an appropriation on contemporary acidic sound, the sonic motions of serpentine and tryptamine delve into explorations within the acid genre. rhys fulber’s string contribution on painkiller initiates a whirlwind rhetoric of distortion. panic stricken, no solace and tessellate focus on strong industrial pads that carry the density of each track whilst infinite dread’s ebm back bone hits hard with heavy arpeggiation. crucial to its form, the album showcases new experimental sound that repurposes algorithms of today’s dancefloor dogma. blush response exposes these paradigms through mutated build-ups and drops. however, his innovative “modular synth heavy” sound design obscures the flow in a way that permeates the concrete arenas his productions are designed for – in true berlin style.

am elften september 2015 erlebte das publikum der konzertserie die erste live show des duos john gürtler und phillip sollmann unter einer autobahnbrücke in offenbach. präsentiert von dem international music institute darmstadt in zusammenarbeit mit dem institut für klangforschung offenbach und der hfmdk frankfurt, wurde man zeuge einer einzigartigen auralen konversation innerhalb dieses überwältigenden settings. ein jahr später fand sich ein fragment der aufnahme des brückenkonzerts auf der sky walking label compilation 41.36 und nun erscheint das erste album der beiden musiker. phillip sollmann und john gürtler treffen sich 2011 im gerade fertiggestellten studio komplex the meadow, in berlin wedding. seitdem herrscht ein reger austausch an ideen und ihre zusammenarbeit beginnt ganz pragmatisch mit einem experimental remix, einer akustischen version von john gürtler für sollmanns techno projekt efdemin, veröffentlicht anlässlich einer reihe von remixen auf dial records.
